Anxiety and panic attacks
Anxiety is a feeling of stress, panic or fear that can affect your everyday life physically and psychologically. The NHS provides and advice and guidance.
Drugs and alcohol

Eating disorders
- Beat: the UK’s eating disorder charity.
An estimated 1 in 20, or 3.5 million people in the UK are now affected by an eating disorder according to new prevalence statistics released by Beat. Based on the most recent UK survey data, these figures suggest that eating disorders are far more common than previously thought. Beat's mission is to end the pain and suffering caused by eating disorders. - Mind: Mental health charity Mind also provides information about treatment and support for eating disorders.
Mental health and wellbeing
Three services we'd like to highlight.
- Oxford Nightline: Nightline is an independent confidential listening, support and information service run by students for students during term-time. It's open from 8pm-8am Monday to Sunday, 0th week to 9th week during Oxford University term time.
- Student Minds: the UK's student mental health charity.
- Samaritans: Whatever you're going through, a Samaritan will face it with you. You can contact Samaritans 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Mindfulness
Mindfulness is a very simple form of meditation. A typical meditation consists of focusing your full attention on your breath as it flows in and out of your body.

Perfectionism
Although having high standards and goals may help us achieve things in life, sometimes these standards get in the way of our happiness and can actually impair performance. This is the paradox of perfectionism.
The Centre for Clinical Interventions provides a range of resources which you may find helpful, covering perfectionism, procrastination and worrying.
Sleep
Recommended by the NHS, Sleepio is a six-week clinically proven programme used to treat insomnia, available free on the NHS.
